Star Trek

Star Trek is an American science fiction media franchise created by Gene Roddenberry, beginning with the television series Star Trek, later known as Star Trek: The Original Series, which aired from 1966 to 1969 and followed the crew of the starship USS Enterprise on a mission of exploration under the United Federation of Planets. Although canceled after three seasons, the series found a large audience in syndicated reruns and grew into an extensive franchise spanning several further television series, including The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager, thirteen feature films released since 1979, and, from 2017, a new wave of streaming series produced for Paramount Plus. The franchise is known for its generally optimistic vision of humanity's future and for popularizing science fiction concepts and phrases, including beam me up and live long and prosper, into everyday language, and its devoted global fan community, often called Trekkies, is frequently cited as one of the earliest and most organized fandoms in modern media history.
