Wim Wenders, born Wilhelm Ernst Wenders in Dusseldorf, Germany, on 14 August 1945, is a German filmmaker and photographer. He is regarded as a major figure of New German Cinema and is widely considered an auteur director. He has received various accolades, including a BAFTA Award, a Palme d'Or, a Golden Lion and an Honorary Golden Bear, and he has been active since 1967.
