Ultra Series

Television-Originated Franchises

The Ultra Series, widely known through its flagship character Ultraman, is a Japanese science fiction media franchise owned and produced by Tsuburaya Productions that began with the television series Ultra Q in 1966. It has since expanded into many television shows, films, comic books and other media, becoming one of the most prominent franchises in the Japanese tokusatsu and kaiju genres and establishing the kyodai hero, or giant hero, subgenre. The franchise centers on a fictional race of alien superheroes who grow to enormous size to battle kaiju monsters and other alien threats menacing Earth.
