Sesame Street

Sesame Street is an American media franchise built on the educational television series created by producer Joan Ganz Cooney and Carnegie Foundation vice president Lloyd Morrisett in 1969, produced by Sesame Workshop, formerly the Children's Television Workshop. The program debuted on public television on November 10, 1969, combining live action, sketch comedy, animation, and puppetry, including Jim Henson's Muppets. The franchise has grown into a large educational enterprise that by 2019 had published more than six thousand five hundred book titles, produced more than two hundred hours of home video, and maintained more than five hundred licensing agreements, and today includes theatrical films, stage productions such as a 2022 Broadway musical, and international co-productions broadcast in more than one hundred sixty versions across seventy languages.
