Scooby-Doo is an American media franchise built on the animated mystery series developed by writers Joe Ruby and Ken Spears for the Hanna-Barbera animation studio. Its first series, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, debuted on the CBS network on September 13, 1969, and followed a talking Great Dane and four teenage friends who investigate mysteries that usually turn out to have a very unsupernatural explanation. The franchise has since produced numerous further television series across networks including Cartoon Network, Boomerang, and HBO Max, along with direct-to-video animated films, live-action theatrical movies, comic books, and merchandise, and continues to develop new projects such as the live-action series Scooby-Doo: Origins.
