Dora the Explorer is an American media franchise centered on the title character of an animated children's television series created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh Valdes and Eric Weiner, produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio. The interactive series, which frequently breaks the fourth wall to invite young viewers to answer questions and solve problems along with Dora, originally ran on Nickelodeon from 2000 to 2014, with a final run of unaired episodes broadcast in 2019. It has since spun off a companion television series, a sequel television series, a live-action feature film and a reboot. Retail sales for the franchise had exceeded 15 billion dollars by 2014, ranking it among the highest grossing media franchises of all time.
