Woody Allen, born Allan Stewart Konigsberg in New York City in 1935, is an American filmmaker, actor, writer, and comedian whose career has spanned more than seven decades. As a screenwriter he holds the record for the most Academy Award wins, three, and nominations, sixteen, for Best Original Screenplay, and he has received four Academy Awards in total along with ten BAFTA Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. His 1977 film Annie Hall won four Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director. Other major films include Manhattan, Hannah and Her Sisters, Crimes and Misdemeanors, and Midnight in Paris, his highest grossing film.
