Robert Zemeckis

Robert Zemeckis is an American filmmaker born in Chicago in 1951 recognized for combining advanced visual effects with popular storytelling. He won the Academy Award for Best Director for Forrest Gump in 1994, and his other major films include the Back to the Future trilogy, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Cast Away, and The Polar Express. Zemeckis pioneered techniques for integrating computer graphics into live action footage, blending hand drawn animation with film, and using motion capture, and he has maintained a long collaboration with composer Alan Silvestri and worked with actor Tom Hanks across five films.
