Forrest Gump

Forrest Gump is a 1994 film directed by Robert Zemeckis, adapted from Winston Groom's novel, following the title character, a slow-witted but kind-hearted Alabama man played by Tom Hanks, as he recounts his life story from a park bench, unwittingly participating in or witnessing major events of mid-twentieth-century American history from the Vietnam War to the Watergate scandal while pursuing his lifelong love for a woman named Jenny. Its blend of sentimental storytelling with then-novel digital effects that inserted Hanks into archival newsreel footage made it a major technical achievement as well as a popular success. It won the Academy Award for Best Picture, and Hanks won Best Actor, at the 67th Academy Awards.
