Melvin James Brooks, born Kaminsky in New York City on 28 June 1926, is an American actor, comedian, film director, songwriter and playwright. With a career spanning nine decades, from 1949 onward, he is known for a variety of successful farces and parodies. He is a recipient of numerous accolades and one of the few people to have won the EGOT, meaning an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony. Within this atlas Mel Brooks is credited as the creator of G.
