John Howard Davies

John Howard Davies was an English director, producer and actor, born in Paddington, London, on 9 March 1939, who died on 22 August 2011. As a child actor he became famous for appearing in the title role of David Lean's film adaptation of Oliver Twist in 1948. After joining the BBC as a production assistant in 1966, he became a hugely influential television director and producer, specialising in comedy. Within this atlas John Howard Davies is credited as the director of Monty Python's Flying Circus and Fawlty Towers.
