James LeBrecht (born 8 May 1956) is an American filmmaker, sound designer and disability rights activist. Over his career he has done sound design work on more than 145 films, with a particular focus on documentaries, and co-authored the book Sound and Music for the Theater with Deena Kaye. He co-directed the documentary Crip Camp with Nicole Newnham in 2020, a film about Camp Jened and its influence on the disability rights movement, executive produced by Barack and Michelle Obama's Higher Ground production company. Crip Camp won the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival and the Zeno Mountain Award at the Miami Film Festival. His other sound design credits include Minding the Gap, The Waiting Room, The Island President, The Kill Team and Audrie and Daisy.
