Eddie Mort

Directors and Filmmakers

Eddie Mort is the co-creator, with his business partner Lili Chin, of the animated television series Mucha Lucha, which debuted in 2002. Warner Brothers Animation was then exploring Flash animation, a medium normally reserved for the Internet, and Mort and Chin created the show's characters in Flash before it became a series that ran for three seasons on the Kids WB network. It produced 52 episodes and a feature-length DVD, The Return of El Malefico. Mort was a fan of wrestling as a child in the 1970s and says the masks, costumes and excitement of lucha libre, discovered in the 1990s through the El Santo films and the Mexican promotions AAA and CMLL, made him and Chin want to put it into a cartoon. Their company FWAK Animation also made the web series Rudo by Night.
