David Lynch

David Lynch (1946-2025) was an American filmmaker widely regarded as one of the most influential directors in the history of cinema, credited with bringing a surrealist, dreamlike sensibility to mainstream film and television that gave rise to the term Lynchian. His work includes Eraserhead, The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, Mulholland Drive, Inland Empire and the television series Twin Peaks, which he co-created and directed across its original run and 2017 revival. He received four Academy Award nominations for Best Director and an Academy Honorary Award, the Palme d'Or and Best Director award at the Cannes Film Festival, and the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Film Festival. Beyond filmmaking he worked as a painter, musician and sculptor, and founded the David Lynch Foundation to support transcendental meditation education.
