The Good Life, known as Good Neighbors in the United States, is a British sitcom produced by BBC television, written by Bob Larbey and John Esmonde, that ran on BBC1 from 4 April 1975 to 10 June 1978. It opens with the midlife crisis of Tom Good, a 40-year-old plastics designer played by Richard Briers, and follows Tom and his wife Barbara, played by Felicity Kendal, as they try to escape the rat race by becoming self-sufficient in their suburban house in Surbiton. In a 2004 poll it was ranked ninth in Britain's Best Sitcom.
