Porridge is a British sitcom starring Ronnie Barker and Richard Beckinsale, written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, broadcast on BBC1 from 1974 to 1977 after a 1973 pilot episode, running for three series and two Christmas specials. It follows two prison inmates, Norman Fletcher and Lennie Godber, serving time at the fictional HMP Slade, with the show's title drawn from British slang for a prison sentence. A 1978 sequel, Going Straight, followed Fletcher after his release, a feature film based on the series was released in 1979, and the show was revived under the same name in 2016 with Fletcher's grandson serving a sentence.
