Babylon Berlin

Babylon Berlin is a German neo-noir television series created, written and directed by Tom Tykwer, Achim von Borries and Henk Handloegten, adapted from the crime novels of Volker Kutscher. It premiered on the German broadcaster Sky 1 on October 13, 2017 and later reached a wider audience through Das Erste, and it is set in Berlin during the final years of the Weimar Republic beginning in 1929, following police inspector Gereon Rath, transferred from Cologne on a secret mission, and Charlotte Ritter, a police clerk seeking to become a detective, as the city's instability and shifting social roles play out around them. Described as the most expensive non-English-language television drama ever produced, with a budget that reached 55 million euros, the series was planned for five seasons, the last of which was set to carry its story to Hitler's rise to power in 1933.
