Yu-Gi-Oh!

Manga and Anime-Originated Franchises

Yu-Gi-Oh! is a Japanese media franchise built on the manga written and illustrated by Kazuki Takahashi, serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from September 1996 to March 2004. The franchise centers on games of chance and strategy, most prominently the trading card game Duel Monsters invented within the story, which Konami adapted into a real world trading card game that had become the best-selling trading card game in history by 2011. The franchise has since expanded into multiple anime series, including the spin-offs GX, 5D's, and VRAINS, four theatrical films, and numerous video games, with the manga alone selling more than forty million copies.
