Video-Game-Originated Franchises

Warcraft is a fantasy video game and media franchise created by Blizzard Entertainment, launched in 1994 with the real time strategy game Warcraft: Orcs and Humans. It continued through the real time strategy sequels Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness in 1995 and Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos in 2002, then expanded into the massively multiplayer online role playing game World of Warcraft in 2004, described as a highly influential title in its genre. The franchise has since grown to include the digital card game Hearthstone, the mobile game Warcraft Rumble, novels, comics, a tabletop role playing game, a trading card game and a 2016 feature film, all built on its shared fantasy setting.
