Space Invaders

Space Invaders is a video game and media franchise built on the 1978 arcade game of the same name, developed and released by the Japanese company Taito and distributed internationally by Midway Manufacturing. The original game had players sweep a horizontally moving laser cannon back and forth to shoot down descending waves of alien invaders, and is credited as the first video game with truly endless gameplay and the first fixed shooter, setting a template later shooters followed. Its enduring imagery and gameplay have carried the franchise across numerous sequels, remakes and licensed appearances since.
