Film-Originated Franchises

Baahubali is an Indian Telugu-language media franchise created by the director S. S. Rajamouli and owned by Arka Media Works. It began as a two-part film series, Baahubali: The Beginning, released on 10 July 2015, and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, released on 28 April 2017, which became the highest-grossing film in India at the time. The films are credited with helping to start the pan-Indian film movement and together grossed more than 2,400 crore rupees worldwide. The story is set in the kingdom of Mahishmati and follows two warring brothers, and Rajamouli has said it was inspired by the Mahabharata. The films were followed by two animated series, including Baahubali: The Lost Legends on Amazon Prime Video in April 2017, a graphic novel, and a trilogy of English-language novels that opened with The Rise of Sivagami in March 2017.
