Alien

Alien is an American science fiction horror franchise begun by director Ridley Scott's 1979 film Alien, in which the crew of a commercial spaceship is hunted by a parasitic extraterrestrial creature, designed by the Swiss artist H. R. Giger. The franchise centers on Ellen Ripley, played across the original film and its sequels by Sigourney Weaver, and has expanded through Aliens, directed by James Cameron in 1986 and re framing the series as action horror, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection and later prequel films directed by Scott himself, Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, alongside the standalone film Alien: Romulus. The creature's design, its life cycle and its acid blood, along with the franchise's tagline In space no one can hear you scream, have become enduring reference points in science fiction and horror filmmaking, and the series has also produced novels, comic books and, through a licensed crossover, the Alien vs. Predator films and games.
