National Public Radio

National Public Radio, abbreviated NPR, was founded on February 26, 1970 under the Public Broadcasting Act of 1967, replacing the National Educational Radio Network as a national syndicator to more than 1,000 member public radio stations across the United States. It produces and distributes both news and cultural programming, and operates independently of any government or corporation, with funding drawn from member station dues and fees, corporate underwriting, and, until 2025, annual grants from the publicly funded Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
