The Chronicles of Narnia

The Chronicles of Narnia is a British media franchise based on the seven fantasy novels written by C. S. Lewis and published between 1950 and 1956, following several groups of children who travel from our world into the magical land of Narnia, ruled over by the lion Aslan, and who become caught up in its history and conflicts across generations of Narnian time. Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media adapted three of the novels into films released between 2005 and 2010, beginning with The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, before Netflix acquired rights to develop further screen adaptations, and the books themselves have sold more than 100 million copies in dozens of languages. The series is widely read as carrying a Christian allegorical dimension, reflecting Lewis's own religious belief and his friendship with fellow Oxford scholar J. R. R. Tolkien, and it has also been adapted for radio, stage and television across multiple earlier BBC productions.
