William Link

William Theodore Link (1933 to 2020) was an American television screenwriter and producer who helped shape the modern television mystery drama, almost always working in partnership with Richard Levinson, a collaboration that began in junior high school and continued until Levinson's death in 1987. Link and Levinson co-created Columbo, Murder, She Wrote, and Mannix, series that became long-running staples of American network television built around inverted or puzzle-style mystery storytelling. After Levinson's death, Link continued writing and producing independently. His work earned multiple Emmy Awards and Edgar Awards from the Mystery Writers of America, and in 2018 he received the Edgar Allan Poe Grand Master Award recognizing his lifetime contribution to mystery writing and television.
