Werner Klingler (1903 to 1972) was a German film director and actor, born in Stuttgart and dead in West Berlin. He gained early theatre experience in minor acting roles, went to the United States, played at a German-American theatre in Milwaukee in 1925 and appeared in films including Howard Hughes' Hell's Angels. Back in Germany he was assistant director on SOS Eisberg in 1933, directed The Last Four on Santa Cruz in 1936 and went on to direct 29 films between 1936 and 1968. He replaced the allegedly executed director Herbert Selpin on Titanic, a film that was banned. His later work includes Spy for Germany in 1956 and Lebensborn in 1961, a film about the Nazi eugenics system, and his last film was Street Acquaintances of St. Pauli in 1968.
