Madhur Bhandarkar, born in Mumbai on 26 August 1968, is an Indian film director, screenwriter and producer. In 2016 the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour. He has worked in film since 1995. His film Chandni Bar of 2001 won the National Film Award for Best Film on Social Issues, and among his later dramas Page 3 won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film while Traffic Signal won the National Film Award for Best Direction.
