Jeff Smith, born on February 27, 1960, is an American cartoonist who is best known as the creator of the self-published comic book series Bone. He has received numerous Eisner Awards and Harvey Awards for his work, and in 2026 he was nominated for the Eisner Awards Hall of Fame. Bone, a fantasy comic book limited series that he both wrote and illustrated, was serialized in 55 irregularly released issues from 1991 to 2004 and was published primarily by his own company, Cartoon Books, with a brief run at Image Comics.
