Directors and Filmmakers

Hugh Harman (August 31, 1903 to November 25, 1982) was an American animator, film producer and film director. An early collaborator of Walt Disney and a key figure in the golden age of American animation, Harman and his longtime collaborator Rudolf Ising founded Harman-Ising Pictures in 1929, through which they created the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies cartoon series, laying the foundation of the Warner Bros. Cartoons studio. In 1934 they moved distribution of their cartoons to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and began the Happy Harmonies series. The atlas records him as a co-creator of the Looney Tunes franchise.
