Federico Fellini

Federico Fellini was an Italian film director whose career moved from the social realism of Italian neorealism toward a more personal, often surreal and autobiographical style. His films La Dolce Vita, 8 1/2 and Amarcord are considered landmarks of postwar European cinema, blending dreamlike imagery, carnival spectacle and reflections on memory and celebrity. Fellini won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film four times and received an honorary Academy Award in 1993 for his lifetime contribution to cinema, and his name gave rise to the adjective Felliniesque, used to describe extravagant, dreamlike visual style in film.
