Donn Alan Pennebaker was an American documentary filmmaker and one of the pioneers of direct cinema, born in Evanston, Illinois, on 15 July 1925 and died on 1 August 2019. Performing arts and politics were his primary subjects, and in 2013 the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recognized his body of work with an Academy Honorary Award. He was active from 1953 to 2019. Within this atlas D. A. Pennebaker is credited as the director of Dont Look Back and The War Room.
