Joseph Frank Keaton, known as Buster Keaton, was an American actor, comedian and filmmaker, born in Piqua, Kansas, on 4 October 1895, who died on 1 February 1966. He is best known for his silent films, in which he performed physical comedy and inventive stunts while keeping a stoic, deadpan expression that earned him the nickname The Great Stone Face. He was active from 1899 to 1966 and received an honorary Oscar in 1959. Within this atlas Buster Keaton is credited as the director of Sherlock Jr., Steamboat Bill, Jr. and Seven Chances.
