Bonnie Sherr Klein, born in 1941, is an American-Canadian feminist filmmaker, author and disability rights activist. Working principally through the National Film Board of Canada, she became known for documentary filmmaking that addressed feminist and social issues directly, most notably her 1981 film Not a Love Story, an examination of the pornography industry that became one of the most widely discussed Canadian documentaries of its decade. After a severe stroke in 1987 left her with lasting disabilities, Klein also became a prominent disability rights advocate, carrying her documentary practice into that advocacy work.
