The Cove is a 2009 documentary directed by Louis Psihoyos, following former dolphin trainer Richard O'Barry and a team of activists and filmmakers as they use hidden cameras and underwater equipment to document the annual dolphin drive hunt in Taiji, Japan. The film combines the covert-filming footage with interviews on the dolphin captivity industry and international whaling and dolphin-hunting politics. The Cove won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature and is widely regarded as a landmark of investigative, activist-driven documentary filmmaking.
