Marta Kauffman

Marta Kauffman is an American television writer and producer best known as the co-creator, with David Crane, of the NBC sitcom Friends (1994-2004), one of the most commercially successful and widely syndicated television comedies ever produced. Kauffman and Crane wrote and produced the series through the company they founded with fellow executive producer Kevin S. Bright, and Friends ran for ten seasons and won multiple Emmy Awards during its network run. Before Friends, Kauffman and Crane created the HBO comedy Dream On (1990-1996) and later created the sitcoms Veronica's Closet (1997-2000) and Jesse (1998-2000). Kauffman returned to comedy in 2015 as co-creator, writer and director of the Netflix series Grace and Frankie, which ran for seven seasons, and received the Producers Guild of America's Lifetime Achievement Award in Television in 2020.
