The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, CBC, is Canada national public broadcaster for radio and television, established by an Act of Parliament on 2 November 1936 in Ottawa. It took over the facilities and staff of the Canadian Radio Broadcasting Commission, the country first attempt at a national broadcasting service, and it broadcasts in both English and French, operating under the parallel name Radio-Canada for its French language service.
