Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.

Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. is a 2003 Hindi language Indian comedy drama, the directorial debut of Rajkumar Hirani, released December 18, 2003, starring Sanjay Dutt as the title character, Arshad Warsi as his sidekick Circuit, Gracy Singh as a doctor, and Boman Irani as an antagonistic dean; it was also the final film appearance of Sunil Dutt, playing Munna's father opposite his real life son. The story follows Munna Bhai, a Mumbai gangster who has maintained a false doctor persona to impress his parents, and who enrolls at the medical college of the dean who exposed his deception seeking revenge, only to transform the institution through compassion driven care for patients. The film won the 2004 National Film Award for Best Popular Film and several Filmfare Awards, ran for a rare twenty five week silver jubilee theatrical run, one of only eight Hindi films to do so since 2000, and led to a 2006 sequel with a third film in development as of 2025.
