All Hindi and Bollywood Cinema: 1950s

This child group collects Hindi and Bollywood Cinema members released in the 1950s, the era Indian film history commonly calls the Golden Age of Hindi cinema, when the industry built its classic studio and star system and produced work recognised internationally. At three members it is the smallest of this parent group's decade splits: Do Bigha Zamin (1953), Bimal Roy's neorealist-influenced drama of a farmer's struggle to save his land, and two Guru Dutt films, Pyaasa (1957), a poet's disillusionment with a materialistic society, and Mother India (1957), the epic of a woman's survival across decades of hardship that became one of Hindi cinema's most internationally recognised titles. At three members it sits well under this atlas's oversized-group threshold and needs no further split.
