The Garden of the Finzi-Continis

The Garden of the Finzi-Continis is a 1970 historical war drama directed by Vittorio De Sica, adapting Giorgio Bassani's semi-autobiographical 1962 novel of the same name. It follows the lives of an upper-class Jewish family in Ferrara, Italy, during the Fascist era, as the encroaching restrictions of the regime close in around them. An Italian and West German co-production starring Lino Capolicchio, Dominique Sanda and Helmut Berger, it won the Golden Bear at the 21st Berlin International Film Festival and the 1972 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
