David is a West German film directed by Peter Lilienthal, following an adolescent Jewish boy, David Singer, coming of age in Nazi Berlin and struggling to raise money to escape to Mandate Palestine as the Nazi persecution of Germany's Jews escalates into the Holocaust. It premiered in February 1979 at the Berlin Film Festival, where it won the Golden Bear, and was also recognized at the German Film Awards.
