The Grapes of Wrath (1940 film)

The Grapes of Wrath is a 1940 American drama film directed by John Ford, adapted by screenwriter Nunnally Johnson from John Steinbeck' s 1939 Pulitzer Prize winning novel of the same name, with Darryl F. Zanuck as executive producer. It chronicles the journey of the Joad family, Oklahoma sharecroppers who lose their farm during the Great Depression and become migrant workers traveling to California, and features cinematography by Gregg Toland; it is widely regarded as one of American cinema' s finest achievements.
