Sin City is a neo-noir comic book series created by Frank Miller, first appearing in 1991 and continuing as an ongoing series from Dark Horse Comics beginning in 1992, told across interlocking hardboiled crime stories set in the corrupt fictional Basin City. Miller drew the series in stark black and white with selective, often symbolic use of color, an art style directly modeled on the visual language of classic film noir. The series was a commercial and critical success that helped drive the broader early-1990s turn toward creator-owned, mature-audience crime comics, and it was later adapted into feature films co-directed by Miller and Robert Rodriguez.
