SimCity

Interactive and Networked Media Landmarks

SimCity is a 1989 city-building simulation video game designed by Will Wright and published by Maxis, in which the player zones land, builds infrastructure and manages a budget to grow a city, with no fixed win condition or ending. The game's open-ended, sandbox-style design departed from the goal-driven structure of most video games at the time. SimCity is widely regarded as a landmark of the city-building simulation genre and launched Maxis's broader line of Sim simulation games.
