Print, Comics and Photojournalism Landmarks

Preacher is an American comic book series created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon, published by DC Comics' Vertigo imprint from 1995 to 2000 across 75 issues. It follows Jesse Custer, a disillusioned Texas preacher accidentally bonded with Genesis, a supernatural being born from the union of an angel and a demon that grants him the power to command absolute obedience, as he travels across America with his ex-girlfriend Tulip O'Hare and an Irish vampire named Cassidy in search of God, whom Genesis's arrival has driven from heaven. The series won the Eisner Award for Best Continuing Series in 1999 and is remembered for its dark humor, graphic violence and sustained religious satire.
