Pep Comics #22 is a comic book published by MLJ Magazines in December 1941, notable as the first appearance of Archie Andrews alongside his friends Jughead Jones and Betty Cooper in a six-page strip created by writer Vic Bloom and artist Bob Montana. The strip was not mentioned on the issue's cover, giving little indication of the character's eventual importance. Archie's popularity grew steadily in the years that followed, gradually displacing Pep Comics' original superhero and adventure content and eventually reshaping MLJ into Archie Comics, one of the most commercially successful comic book publishers of the twentieth century.
