Oppenheimer is a 2023 epic biographical thriller written, co-produced and directed by Christopher Nolan, based on the 2005 biography American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin. Cillian Murphy stars as the physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, dramatizing his work directing the Los Alamos Laboratory during the development of the first nuclear weapons and his 1954 security hearing, with Robert Downey Jr. co-starring as Lewis Strauss. Released by Universal Pictures, the film grossed over 983 million dollars worldwide and won seven Academy Awards at the 96th ceremony, including Best Picture, Best Director for Nolan, Best Actor for Murphy and Best Supporting Actor for Downey.
