Oliver! is a 1968 British musical drama film directed by Carol Reed from a screenplay by Vernon Harris, based on Lionel Bart's 1960 stage musical, itself adapted from Charles Dickens's 1838 novel Oliver Twist. Mark Lester stars in the title role alongside Ron Moody, Oliver Reed, Harry Secombe and Jack Wild, with musical numbers including Food, Glorious Food and Consider Yourself. Filmed at Shepperton Studios and distributed by Columbia Pictures, the film won six Academy Awards at the 41st ceremony, including Best Picture and Best Director for Reed, and two Golden Globe Awards.
