Fight Club

Fight Club is a 1999 film directed by David Fincher, adapted from Chuck Palahniuk's 1996 novel, following an unnamed, insomniac narrator, played by Edward Norton, whose chance meeting with the anarchic soap salesman Tyler Durden, played by Brad Pitt, leads them to found an underground bare-knuckle fighting club that grows into a nihilistic anti-consumerist movement with increasingly destructive aims. Its twist revelation about the narrator and Tyler's relationship, and its stylized depiction of violence as both liberation and self-destruction, drew polarized reviews and modest box office on release but grew into one of the most influential and frequently reinterpreted films of its decade. It is now widely regarded as one of Fincher's defining works.
