City of Scars

City of Scars is a 2010 superhero fan film written and directed by Aaron Schoenke and produced with his brother Sean through their YouTube-based production company Bat in the Sun, running thirty minutes on a twenty-seven-thousand-dollar budget shot over twenty-one days. Built on Bob Kane and Bill Finger's Batman characters, it follows the Joker escaping Arkham Asylum and kidnapping a councilman's son after killing his wife, with Batman pursuing him through Gotham to a carnival and a final confrontation in which the boy kills the Joker with his own weapon. Kevin Porter starred as Batman and Paul Molnar as the Joker; the film followed Schoenke's earlier Batman fan shorts Patient J and Batman Legends and led to the 2011 sequel Seeds of Arkham and the 2021 film Batman: Dying Is Easy.
