Chariots of Fire

Chariots of Fire is a 1981 British historical sports drama directed by Hugh Hudson and written by Colin Welland, based on the true story of two British athletes at the 1924 Olympics, the devout Scottish Christian runner Eric Liddell and the English Jewish runner Harold Abrahams, who competes to overcome prejudice. Ian Charleson and Ben Cross star as Liddell and Abrahams, with a score by Vangelis built around its electronic theme tune. The film won four Academy Awards at the 54th ceremony, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay and Best Original Score, and is ranked 19th on the British Film Institute's list of the top 100 British films.
